The Elfstedentocht is a legendary speed-skating tour to skate all eleven Frisian cities. The total distance to skate is a almost 200 kilometers and the tour is always very harsh because it only takes place when it has been freezing for a long time and enough canals and lakes are frozen.

The last time the winter was good enough to organize this tour in the province of Holland was 1997.
